“The coach has the questions, the client has the answers.”
Therapy or Coaching?
Coaching
Coaching is best for clients who have a firm grasp on their roots. They feel comfortable moving forward towards progress without needing to look back on the past. It is also best for folks who have a specific goal they want to work on: for example, I feel bored with my workouts and want to find joy in movement. Or, I feel burnt out with work and need a new view on what I want. We use solution-focused, action-based goals. You will have “homework” assignments to do in between sessions to work towards your goals.
Coaching is meant to be short-term, one-three months. If you think you’ll need more time than that, or aren’t sure on your goals, look at therapy services instead.
And therapy is…
Therapy is meant to process deeper emotions and concerns, to heal and discover more about our authentic self and needs. Therapy is looking back to move forward, while coaching goes straight ahead.
I recommend having experience with therapy before engaging in coaching, if depression or anxiety is part of what is in the way of moving forward.
